I’ve devoted twenty-seven years to my career as a licensed Massage Therapist, breaking new ground on a several occasions, and learning valuable lessons along the way. I get the frustration, struggle and overwhelm that you may be experiencing as a new or even experienced massage therapist striving to start or grow your practice. I very much want to continue to contribute to the success of profession, and to the success of those who are so deeply committed to it.

My massage career started in 1985 when therapeutic massage was hardly the well-known and valued profession it is today.  I found myself in an awkward position striving to grow a practice in a climate that was wary of it.

Drawing from my prior production experience in the music business, I pitched the idea of massage to Concert/Southern Promotions.  I became their first massage therapist – and one of two women nationally offering on-site massage at concert venues, now a central part of concert productions everywhere.

In 1989, I was the first Manager of the Massage Department at Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires.  I wrote the department’s Standards, Policy and Procedure Manual, interviewed applicants and hired employees, supported my staff of 35 through challenging guest interactions, and much more.

In 1991, I joined my staff, earning a reputation as one of the Ranch’s most frequently requested therapists.

In 1994, I moved to eastern Massachusetts where I maintain a private practice.  Some of my clients have been with me for more than 18 years. I have also consulted to spas and wellness centers, and create and facilitate coach-approach self-care workshops.

I’ve worked with many high profile people in the music, film, television and corporate industries throughout my career.  Past or present clients include Sting, Jimmy Buffet, Joan Baez, Phish, Mary Tyler Moore, Annie Leibovitz, Donna Karan, Clarence Clemons, and Aerosmith.  Many were or still are repeat clients.

As a certified Professional Coach, I draw from over six years  experience, plus advanced training with a Master Certified Coach. I am currently applying for advanced certification (ACC level) through the International Coach Federation. I also write and facilitate coach-approach workshops, and run Mastermind support groups.  [link: Read more…]
